From this week’s sermon:

“Love your enemies,” Jesus says, “Do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” We’ve heard it…The problem is, we’ve heard it so much that we don’t really hear it anymore.

It’s almost as though Jesus knew this would be the case. Did you notice how he introduces this saying? “I say to you that listen.” Are you listening? Did you really hear what Jesus just said? “Love your enemies.”

How do we respond to something so outlandish?

How do we love those who hate us and bless those who curse us?  Read Pastor Kip’s sermon “Love Whom?” by clicking on the link below:

Year of the Bible Blog
From this week’s guest blogger Stated Clerk Rebecca Blair:  Here we see Job beginning to lose patience.  In his physical agony, he laments that he was ever born—a very specific lament.  His is a passionate formal curse lamenting not his conception, but the very fact that he has been brought into the world, a world containing inexplicable sorrow such as he is now experiencing,  through birth.  Thus, he is not cursing God for giving him life, but rather the disorder and suffering of his worldly experience.

Next week’s guest blogger is Kevin Cullum of Camp Wyoming.

Aaron Jones Joins Ascent Ministries
This fall, recent Central College graduate Aaron Jones will be joining the staff of Ascent Ministries.  Ascent seeks to disciple and equip believers to carry God's abundant life into family, church, culture, and the world. He will serve among the poor in Kansas City and walk with college students as they grow in their relationship and with God.  Aaron went on a mission trip to Jordan last summer and seeks to serve among Muslims in K.C., and eventually overseas. He fits in wherever he goes with his red hair.
