From this week’s sermon:

What are the things that people want? We want power, we want security, we want happiness, and we want recognition and respect. These are the things that mark success, aren’t they?...Oddly enough, Jesus says that we are blessed if we don’t have those things and woe to us if we do. So what’s up with this?

Year of the Bible Blog
From this week’s guest blogger Rev. Susan Krummel:  Ah, now we come to the reason that I volunteered for this week! Esther. What a great story! But, do you know something odd about it? Once you have read the whole book, you may have noticed this. The name of God does not appear anywhere in the book. God is not even really referred to at any point. Instead, this is a story about a woman who saves her people. Esther is in a long line of women who use the power they had in that society to save the day.

Next week’s guest blogger is Kevin Cullum (Camp Wyoming, IA)
